CV Formatting & Content Guidelines

1. Professional Photo (Mandatory)

  • Use a formal passport-size photo
  • Background: White or light plain background
  • Dress code: Formal shirt/blazer (no casual dress)
  • Expression: Neutral or slight smile
  • Photo should be clear, well-lit, and high resolution
  • Place photo at the top-right or top-left corner of the CV
  • No selfies, no cropped group photos, no filters

2. Font & Formatting

  • Use one standard format throughout the CV
  • Recommended fonts: Calibri / Arial / Times New Roman
  • Name: 16–18 (Bold)
  • Headings: 12–14 (Bold)
  • Content: 10.5–11.5
  • Use bullet points instead of long paragraphs
  • Maintain proper alignment and spacing
  • Avoid too many colors (black & white preferred)
  • Keep CV length to 1–2 pages only

3. Contact Details Section (Must Include)

  • Full Name
  • Job Role (e.g., Frontend Developer, Data Analyst)
  • Phone Number
  • Professional Email ID
  • City & State
  • LinkedIn URL (Mandatory)
  • GitHub / Portfolio link (for technical roles)

4. Profile / Summary (Important)

  • Write 4–5 meaningful lines
  • Must match the applied job role
  • Avoid generic statements
Example:
Aspiring Frontend Developer skilled in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap with hands-on experience in building responsive websites and user-friendly interfaces. Passionate about clean design, performance optimization, and writing maintainable code.

5. Skills Section

  • Mention only relevant technical skills
  • Example (Frontend Developer):
    • HTML
    • CSS
    • JavaScript
    • Bootstrap
    • React (if applicable)
    • Git & GitHub
  • Avoid mentioning non-technical experience

6. Projects Section (Most Important)

  • Project Name with tools used
  • Live Project URL
  • GitHub Repository Link
  • Detailed description in 5–7 lines
Example:
Project Name: Blinkit Clone (Figma / Photoshop)

  • Developed a responsive grocery delivery UI
  • Implemented product listing and cart design
  • Used HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Bootstrap
  • Focused on mobile responsiveness and clean layout

7. Tools & Technologies (If Applicable)

  • Figma

  • Canva (UI design only)

8. Education

  • Degree (B.Tech / BCA / MCA, etc.)
  • Year of Passing
  • Percentage (if good)

9. Experience

  • Include only IT / Technical experience
  • Examples:
    • Web Development Internship

  • Avoid non-IT roles (Sales, BPO, Delivery, etc.)
